Professor Alison While was previously Associate Dean of Education & External Affairs at the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing & Midwifery, King’s College London. In addition, she has managed a large NHS education contract (pre-registration and CPPD) and worked with public services, the voluntary sector and commercial companies delivering advisory work (incl. strategic and operational service development and reconfiguration), professional education, CPPD/workforce development and research (particularly in relation to nursing). Alison has strong professional expertise in chronic/long term illness care, promotion of well-being/wellness across the human lifespan, self-care, care outside hospitals, older people care, tele-/digital health, nursing work & nurse performance.

Alison has established an international reputation with extensive publications in globally recognised journals. Previously she held visiting professorships at Trinity College Dublin, Second Military Medical University Shanghai and the University of Hong Kong.
